With Winter slowly transitioning into Spring, this week’s board is inspired by the transitioning of the seasons, merging edgier elements with organic materials and silhouettes. A popular style of design amongst many noteworthy designers, “Transitional” design is broadly defined as the art of mixing traditional and contemporary pieces. Follow along below to learn more about how this style of design can freshen up your space!
A fixture everyone in our showroom has been eyeing lately; the “Parel” pendant by Modern Forms adds a touch of contemporary glamour to this living space; featuring alabaster beads draping along the arms of the fixture mimicking a string of glowing pearls. The imagery evoked by the form of the pendant is perfectly contrasted by the modern shape of the arms on the fixture, making it a focal point of the room, without overwhelming the more subdued elements within the space.
Playing off the theme already established in the kitchen and living space, we wanted to keep it similar while adding a bit of “flare” with the wallpaper in order to break up the natural tones seen in the countertops, the travertine sink, and the shower tile. York Wallcoverings’ “Stretched Hexagons” wallpaper as depicted in the color “Blue”, provides texture and a metallic sheen similar to that of snakeskin, meshing beautifully with the “Denim Blue” cabinetry from Fabuwood and packing a punch amongst the otherwise monotone surfaces in the space, while being an affordable upgrade.
Lastly, adding a slight “boho” touch to this bath, Cancos Tile and Stone’s “Capri” tile ties together the full color palette used in the bathroom as well as in the kitchen and living area, in a stunning starburst pattern for an added layer of interest in any space and for many different applications; whether it be bathroom floor tile, shower wall tile, or used in a backsplash.
