This board goes out to the lovers of autumn and for those who wish to evoke the calming feeling of cabin life within their home away from the wilderness. By carefully selecting lighting fixtures, and mixing textures, colors, and finishes, this week we’ll be diving into some key points on recreating this look within your space, and what to look for when shopping for room elements that mimic this theme.
Honing in on the “cabin” theme of this board, by incorporating various wooden elements throughout the lighting and tile selections, the rigid core LVP in the color “Sidecar” from Johnson Hardwood’s “Public House” collection was selected for its medium/dark tone and slightly rustic appearance reminiscent of aged hardwood found in old pubs, hence its name after the Brandy based cocktail. Matching the color of the cabinetry while also providing contrast to these spaces, this flooring works perfectly within this theme as each plank displays a subtle “smoked” appearance fading in the middle from light to dark around the edges, allowing it to flow with various wood shades and metal finishes.
Blending the accents of burnt orange seen throughout the kitchen with the mocha brown and burgundy tones pictured in the crackles of Cambria’s “Notting Hill” countertops is Kohler’s stunning “Tournant” semi-pro faucet in the finish “Vibrant Brushed Bronze”. Despite this faucet’s endless dazzling features such as its three-function spray head, this finish is unique to Kohler’s impressive array of finish options, and is warrantied to be tarnish and corrosion resistant so that it will remain beautiful and durable for years to come.
Finally, one of my favorite elements in this week’s board: the “Pearson” twenty-four light chandelier in the finish “black iron” is the perfect finishing touch to this cozy, yet rugged theme as it’s textured finish allows it to work with a variety of color schemes and it’s large proportions allow it to shine as the focal point of the space, hanging from a vaulted ceiling with wooden beams in my imagination.
For anyone looking to try out their own spin on this look, our tips include: adding accents of fall colors such as burnt orange, olive green, and warm brown tones throughout furniture, pillows, dried florals, and art work, in addition to textures such as wood, stone, and leather to carry the autumnal motif throughout the space.
